Jason P Gerling, a long-established Weir distributor, will head the subsidiary. Gerling was previously sales director for Weir's distributor in China where he helped Weir become market leader of China's flatwork handling equipment sector.
Rob Weir, HJ Weir Engineering's managing director, said that the company has sold its equipment in the USA since 1960, operating through manufacturing licensees and distributors. He added that the subsidiary had been established to expand Weir's sales and marketing efforts in North America.
The company will be exhibiting its full range of flatwork handling equipment at the Clean show in Las Vegas (6 - 9 June).
