Hohenstein develops hospitality laundry hygiene certificate

29 September 2011

The certificate will allow such laundries to show that their service for the hospitality market meets the exacting standards for washing and disinfection demanded for healthcare linen.

The Bönnigheim-based institute says under the scheme, professional textile care providers will receive a supplementary certificate to show that processing conforms to the RAL Quality Certification Mark 992 for professional textile services.

Commercial laundries that hold the RAL Quality Certification Mark 992/2 and 992/3 can request the certificate from the German Certification Association for Professional Textile Services, provided that they process their laundry in accordance with the disinfecting washing agents and procedures listed by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

A Hotelcheck Hygiene scheme that includes textile care is also in place. Backed by the International Hotel Hygiene Test Association, the scheme monitors and maintains quality standards in housekeeping and provides an independent assessment of cleanliness and hygiene in the hotel industry.
