More than 60 000 visitors attended this year’s Hotelympia. The event took place last month at the Earls Court exhibition centre where over 800 stands launched around 400 new products.
Among the companies on show was Miele, which announced the launch of its washers and dryers in 7.5 kg capacities aimed at small hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfast establishments and restaurants.
Sales and marketing manager Dawn Brooks, explained that the WS5073 and T6185 were also able to accommodate duvets and have frequency-modulated motors “to be gentler on fabrics”.
Hilden Manufacturing presented a new range of 50/50 blend of polyester-cotton striped bedlinen in the Bedroom Premier collection. It also features satin stripe linen and 100% cotton percale available with embroidery or cording.
Corporatewear company Simon Jersey announced the launch of women’s washable jackets, along with unlined women’s polyester jackets, to provide wearers with two-way stretch in single breasted design and a choice of long or short sleeves.
Simon Jersey’s Sarah Ashmole said the company was also offering customers the option of purchasing garments with different buttons, to enable them to personalise their uniforms.
Chief executive Simon Moyle revealed plans to introduce an easy care, washable chef’s jacket in 1999. Simon Jersey is working with DuPont to develop a resin coating to maintain the look of the garment and make it stain-resistant.
Another company at the show was Anglowest-Viking, unveiling its Kit-45, Kit-90 and Kit-135, to process 45, 91 and 140 kg of laundry/hour using one, two and three operators respectively.
