Hydrocarbon machine proves trumps for Ace

1 June 2000

Ace Suede and Leather Cleaners in London’s East End has not only made the move to hydrocarbon, it has installed what is probably the largest hydrocarbon machine in the United Kingdom.

The 40kg capacity Firbimatic Ecopro 940L is a three-tank model with refrigerated solvent-cooling and a number of other special customised features for processing suedes and leathers.

Ace has expanded its business dramatically. It used to operate solely with the M25 area but has now moved to offering a nationwide service to drycleaners who want to subcontract their suede and leather business. As a result, the company needed to expand production quickly. It also wanted to use a cleaning solvent that was gentler than perc, so a hydrocarbon machine was the obvious choice.

Production manager, Orhan Ahmet was impressed by the features offered by the Firbimatic machine. A solvent spray automatically washes accumulated lint off the filter in the recovery head and into the button-trap, minimising the need for manual cleaning.
