IDC strikes a fashionable note at London event

15 March 2002

IDC president Simon Murray says that the theme was chosen in order to reflect not only what people wear, but how they organise their time.

Mr Murray, who is also chairman of South East-based Columbine Cleaners, said that exchanging ideas with fellow drycleaners round the world would be a vital part of the event. "A lot can be learnt from what other countries are doing," he said.

Speakers are expected to include Kaspar Hasenclever of Kreussler Chemicals, Marty Brucato, an American running a drycleaning business in Paris, and John Barber, head of Safeway drycleaning and photographic business. The organising committee shortly hopes to confirm other top level speakers from Russia, France, Germany, the USA and the Far East.

Simon Murray hopes that the event will prompt more UK drycleaners to join the IDC: "For around £70 a year, individuals get the IDC's publication and access to information about what's going on - it's like an international club." The IDC convention moves to a different country each year, returning to the UK every six or seven years. Last year's event was in Arizona, USA and in 2003 it moves to Japan.
