Irish linen goes to Lancashire

19 May 2003

The acquisition gives Hilden the opportunity to increase its portfolio to include famous hotels worldwide, such as The Dorchester, The Savoy in London, Raffles Hotel in Singapore, Burg-El-Arab in Dubai, Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, together with airline companies Air New Zealand and KLM.

Hilden will also be able to offer a range of Irish linen tablelinen and bedlinen to its existing customer base.

Hilden will maintain the Liddell sales operation, together with a hemming and distribution warehouse in Lurgan, but will transfer all weaving and finishing to its own mills in East Lancashire.

Liddell is an old established textile manufacturer founded in 1866 - similar to Hilden, which was established in 1874.
