Jørn Munch Jensen was born in Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm. His father owned a company that repaired dairy equipment and Jørn trained as an engineer. Later, he took a business degree and decided he wanted to pursue an international life and career.
His introduction to the laundry equipment industry came through a friend, Bent Kjellberg, whose father owned a laundry and who having seen a folder on a Danish ferry, thought that such a machine could help to reduce a laundry’s running costs.
Jørn Munch Jensen decided to build his first folding machine together with his father Ejnar Jensen in 1959. Despite limited knowledge of the laundry industry he believed he could make the dream a reality. Today, the Jensen Group is a leading name around the globe for sustainable laundry automation, supplying equipment and solutions for all sections of industrial laundries.
He leaves a wife Lise, who he married in 1954, three children Karine, Anne and Jesper, the present group CEO, and seven grandchildren.
