The accreditation is not a one-off achievement but is awarded for continual improvements in performance. So though delighted, J&A could not sit back and relax, says Warren Fothergill, safety environmental and quality manager.
One of the company's most successful projects to date has been its efforts to cut water use making 64% savings, mainly through recycling. It has also installed reed beds to purify the effluent water and minimise the need for additional water treatment.
The efforts continue. Charles Fry, J&A managing director says that the company has a programme of projects and investments lined up beginning with the implementation of a system to reduce ink wastage by some 50% before the year ends.
