Jelf Group fits insurance to drycleaning needs

17 January 2006

This comprehensive scheme, says Phil Barton, Jelf’s group commercial director, has been developed through a series of detailed risk assessments carried out over the past six months. It includes two of the most important risks faced by drycleaners – damage to goods as part of the drycleaning process and theft on the premises without forced entry.

A specialist team has been established at the group’s Cardiff office to deal with Enhance and this will be led by Catherine Richards.

Murray Simpson, TSA chief executive, said that to date the drycleaning sector had lacked specialist cover, but that Enhance would fill this gap.

TSA members would obtain substantial discounts on premiums. Non-members with a single site who take out an Enhance policy receive free membership and those with multiple sites would have to join but get a membership discount.

Drycleaners who have gained certification under the Solvent Emissions Directive legislation will get a discount, as will those with sealed units that are less than three years old.
