Jensen does a deal with Gemplus

France: Jensen has signed a deal with French company Gemplus Tag to distribute its RFID systems to the textile industry.

As a result, Jensen will be able to offer its customers the chance to switch from barcoding to high-tech radio frequency identification via the Gemplus package.

It will also be able to incorporate the Gemplus system into its established Prisma laundry garment database to allow full traceability of garments both inside and outside the laundry.

The Gemplus package includes: garment tags designed to withstand all existing laundry processes; high performance radio frequency antennae to be integrated in Jensen’s Metricon conveyors; and handheld readers to allow van drivers to carry out garment check-ins and inventory controls at customer sites.

Commenting on the deal, Steen Nielsen, president of Jensen’s heavy-duty laundry division said: “This partnership with Gemplus will allow our organisation to offer the latest and most innovative products in terms of radio frequency. Which is good as an increasing number of customers say they want to have a single supplier for their rental workwear needs.”
