Jensen partners Servizi Italia in Genoa laundry development

29 April 2010

When complete, the laundry will be amongst the largest of its type not only in Italy but also in Europe. It will occupy five floors and cover a total surface area of approximately 24,500 square metres.

With a production capacity of 60,000kg/day, the laundry will handle hospital flat linen, hospital clothes and reusable technical fabric garments for use in sterile operating rooms.

Servizi Italia, which is listed on the Italian Stock Exchange, currently runs 11 industrial laundries, seven linen sterilisation centres, 11 surgical installation sterilisation centres and 110 linen storage units.

The Bolzaneto plant will have a monorail loading system in the soiled area, four continuous washing lines, two trolley washers, five ironing lines, a monorail loading system in the clean area and a Metricon system for garment sorting. The Jensen Cockpit tracking system will manage all these areas.

A spokesperson for Jensen said the project represented a major challenge for the Jensen Group, which had to coordinate and synergize all its resources to satisfy the customer’s requirements.

The plant will be completed in early 2011.
