Johnson targets the “can wash, won't wash” students

So Johnson has teamed up with the National Union of Students to offer members of the NUS Extra discount card scheme up to 20% off all services at 500 Johnson Cleaners branches nationwide,

The company's services include drycleaning, laundry and ironing as well as specialist care for garments such as sportswear.

Johnson says that its survey, which polled the parents of 135 students earlier this year, reveals that 73% of students know how to use a washing machine yet the same number again (73%) regularly take laundry home to their parents during term-time.

The figures are even higher during university holidays, when 76% of parents do their grown-up children's' laundry. Only 27% of the parents questioned claim they never do laundry for their offspring during term-time.

Nearly half of the parents polled (44 per cent) have student-aged children who never wash their own bedcovers.

Paul Ogle, managing director of Johnson Cleaners, says: “These results demonstrate just how much students still rely on parents to do their laundry for them, even in holiday time. Perhaps it's about time we gave mums and dads a break though and let the cleaning experts do the hard work instead!”
