Mascot proves its social responsibility

To achieve this certificate, companies must provide documentary proof that they do not use child or forced labour, that they have a good working environment adapted to local conditions and that employment policies allow freedom of association, do not discriminate and ensure that working hours and wages are fair. They must also have an efficient management system that ensures that sub-contractors also comply.

Mascot moved production to Vietnam in 2008 and the factory now has over 1,000 employees, mostly seamstresses.

Michael Grosbøl, Mascot's managing director said that a company's ability to prove corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly important for customers. “Having our own factory with European management helped achieve an increase in efficiency and product quality. We also ensure that our products are manufactured under good and safe working conditions, which is crucial for us”.

He added “We are sending a clear message to our sub-suppliers that they cannot compromise when it comes to social responsibility.”
