New Jersey encourages a switch to wetcleaning

28 October 2009

The Department of Environmental Protection turned to NJSBDC to assist with educating and training drycleaning businesses about the value of changing to wet cleaning as part of a US Environmental Protection Grant to spur green technologies.

No direct grants are available to cleaners but several machinery companies have agreed to offer discounts of up to 30% on equipment, including finishing equipment, to cleaners entering the programme. The companies offering discounts include Aqua-Solo, Miele, Wascomat, Imesa, Trevil and HiSteam.

So far two workshops have been held, the first at Aqua-Solo headquarters and a second at Custom Cleaners in Hopewell, a plant that uses Miele equipment. A third demonstration is planned for December.
