Frank Gibbons, director of estates at the trust, said the installation was part of a series of efficiency measures designed to reduce its carbon emissions by 10%. The trust would also benefit from any savings that resulted, as these would be reinvested in its services.
The plant, manufactured by BLS, will use patented ceramic filtration technology and will be sized to recover 10 - 12cu m/hour on the basis of recovering 70 - 75% of the water used by the laundry.
As well as recovering the water it will also recover the heat from the water, so saving energy as well.
Business centre manager Chris Leeper told LCN that the installation is due to start at the end of April/May 2008. It is the fourth water recycling plant that the company has installed in the past two years.
