OPL qualification launched

17 February 2012

The institute says its On Premises Laundry qualification recognises best practice with regard to sorting, collection, transport and storage of laundry. It also covers the cleaning of the laundry premises and of the storage areas for clean work. An accredited training programme will become available this year.

The qualification includes three mandatory units: Chemical Competence, Equipment Safe Use and Care and Storage of Chemicals and Equipment. Candidates must pass all three before progressing to OPL skills units.

This category covers 25 core cleaning skills including removal of dirty laundry, used laundry collection, machine loading and washing foul, infected and used laundry.

The qualification will list each module that the candidate has completed successfully.
