Paris show attracts industry giants

14 March 2007

A busy conference agenda drew large audiences every day to hear discussions on topics as diverse as the technical and commercial issues faced by textile rental firms and industrial laundries, the outlook for drycleaning in France, and the workwear sector.

There was tremendous interest in equipment for the healthcare laundry sector and also for smaller-scale laundry operations, while visitors also had an ideal opportunity to view the latest developments in dry- and wetcleaning systems.

Amongst companies exhibiting this year were 5 A Sec, Barbanti, Bowe, Bufa, Colibri, Danube International, Ecolab, Electrolux, Girbau, Ilsa, Imesa, Kannegiesser France, Kreussler, Lapauw, Miele, Pony, Primus, Proctor & gamble, Renzacci, Seitz, Tagsys, Thermopatch and Unica.

One the show's sponsors this year was the Girbau Group. Jean Michel Giret, export sales manager for Girbau France, acknowledged that while Jet remains predominantly French in outlook, it still represents a good opportunity for all textile care professionals. Girbau demonstrated some of its heavy-duty equipment. The company is also agent for Japanese finishing specialist Sankosha, and exhibits in operation on the stand included the DF-050E form finisher, the KMP 450 press and the DF-740E trouser topper.

Electrolux Laundry Systems France was showing its Lagoon wetcleaning system for textile care businesses. Jean Perret, the man responsible for developing the Lagoon concept in France, says it can be easily integrated into a hotel laundry to provide a garment care service for guests.

Tagsys recently helped to install an automatic dispenser system for folded garments based on RFID technology at Group Hospitalier of Lille.

According to Tagsys , RFID technology can enable the reliable, accurate and secure management of garments, and helps comply with a continuous hygiene monitoring system in a hospital environment. The company, which is headquartered in Massachusetts, USA has offices and R&D in France.

With improved garment traceability, the hospital controls its compliance to hygiene standards better and specifically monitors that its staff changes workwear on a regular basis and that garments are washed accordingly.
