Philadelphia delays decision on perc regulations

14 August 2008

Such a ban would affect drycleaners located in shopping centres and those who shared a building with other businesses as well as those co-located with residential buildings.

No action was taken at the Board’s August meeting and the next meeting will take place in November.

The delay is believed to result from representations by the dry cleaning industry including the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute, and the Pennysylvania & Delaware Cleaners’ Association.

In a recent DLI Newsletter, Jon Meijer said that the DLI had provided the Board with significant guidance and identified flaws in the data supplied by Philadelphia’s air management services staff.

Members of the Air Management Staff will now meet industry representatives to consider further modification of the draft regulation.
