Pride offers drycleaning service to the trade

1 June 2000

Pride Cleaners of Cotteridge Birmingham has extended its range of services and can now offer drycleaning to the trade alongside its standard consumer business.

Pride’s co-director Alan Thornton believes there is a gap in the market for independent, quality cleaners who can offer the trade a good clean-only service. Such a service would prove its worth when machines are out of action due to breakdown, or during a boiler inspection. It could also prove an efficient and cost-effective way of catching up when the work-load is heavier than usual, or when staff are off sick or on holiday.

Mr Thornton says that a cleaner can always catch up with the pressing, but having to cope with extra cleaning can hold up the whole business. Pride has increased its capacity and as well as its established 40lb AMA machine has installed a 60lb unit, housed in a special extensioin along with a Sander Shade curtain-finisher and an extra press.

Alan Thornton personally supervises all cleaning and the process is carried out in well-maintained machines with top-quality perc and additives. Work is returned on hangers, and although the service is usually clean-only, Pride can also offer some pressing and duvet washing on request.

Pride imposes two conditions on trade customers. They must telephone before sending work (0121 458 1284), and cleaners wanting to use the service on a regular basis must be outside a 4 mile radius of Pride’s premises.
