Real help is offered

27 January 1999

The Worshipful Company of Launderers is underlining its ability and eagerness to direct benevolence to cases of need in the UK’s textile care sector.

It is drawing particular attention to funds available for training, pointing out this may be industry-specific—technical or managerial—or of a more general nature.

The Company is also currently inviting applications for a bursary to travel for educational or research reasons connected with the applicant’s employment in the textile care industry. The deadline for applications has been extended until 31 March, 1999.

On-going is the Company’s assistance programme for people who are linked with the textile care industry and who are in need for a variety of reasons such as old age, illness and financial hardship.

The Company is able to arrange, for successful applicants, pensions, or donations to fund the purchase of specific items or services.

Applications for assistance should be sent to Jim Crisp, Chairman of Benevolence, The Worshipful Company of Launderers, Launderers’ Hall, 9 Montague Close, London Bridge, London SE1 9DD.

* The Worshipful Company of Launderers is one of 100 Livery Companies and these have, as their main purpose, charitable activity. Well over £20 million a year is channelled into charitable work by the Companies.
