Till, who is the chief executive of Icon Entertainment UK and the board's deputy chair, will take over in January 2011.
Till succeeds Skillset's longest serving chairman, Clive Jones, who bows out following the December board meeting after eight years at the helm, the maximum term permitted under the council's constitution.
Jones presided over an exceptional period in Skillset's history, from a National Training Organisation to become the first Trailblazer Sector Skills Council for the audio visual industries.
