Skillset seeks NVQ achievers

3 December 2010

Skillset launched the competition to celebrate the growing number of people gaining NVQ qualifications in the laundry and drycleaning sector.

Working with its industry partners the Textile Services Association, Laundry Technology Centre and awarding body PAA\VQ-SET, Skillset urges managers to nominate staff members who have completed or are about to complete an NVQ in laundry or drycleaning.

It is particularly looking for entrants that have had to overcome personal or professional obstacles to succeed in gaining their qualification, as well as those who have taken on extra responsibilities or progressed to a new role as a result of skills training.

Dave Kinson, chair of Skillset’s Laundry and Drycleaning Sector Advisory Board, said that more and more laundry businesses are now using the NVQ programme to train their staff and this represents a great advance in skills training for the sector.

Kinson added: “We hope that the award winner’s experience will demonstrate that taking an industry-approved NVQ can benefit both the individual learner and their employer.”
