Sophus Berendsen to focus on textile service

1 November 1999

Europe: Sophus Berendsen is to sell its loss-making PMC industrial unit and concentrate solely on being a European textile service company.

The announcement comes soon after the publication of disappointing interim results which were dogged by PMC, which distributes hydraulics and other industrial applications.

Berendsen says it has, in the past 10 years, become a market leader in Europe, a position it wants to build on aggressively. “Ten years of growth has given Berendsen the strength and the competencies that are necessary to contribute to forming the future market. With a position as market leader in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden; a strong position on the German market and a spearhead in Poland, Berendsen is ready for further growth in Europe,” it said.
