Special craft for Thames

27 January 1999

The Worshipful Company of Launderers is aiming to purchase a Thames Cutter—for use on the River Thames as a training aid for both young people and the disadvantaged—to celebrate the new millennium.

The special craft will be built once sufficient funds have been raised. Total cost is some £16 000 and, allowing for tax gift aid, over £10 000 has now been subscribed or promised.

The cutter will be leased to an organisation which will be responsible for maintenance—the agreement will be arranged so that the Company can use the craft on ceremonial occasions.
