“Even in this recession, the region’s professional textile market is growing at a steady rate,” says Peter Wennekes, secretary general of CINET, the International Committee of Textile Care. “Plenty of business opportunities exist for those wanting to enter Asia and in particular China’s laundry and drycleaning sector.”

Wang Xueren, secretary general, Beijing Laundry and Drycleaning Industry Association, says that Texcare Asia has established itself as an international platform for professional textile care. “China’s professional textile care industry is still new, so the sector’s growth potential is huge,” he adds.

Official figures for Texcare Asia 2009 show what the event attracted 133 companies and associations from 17 countries and regions. The number of visitors had increased slightly with 5,900 attending the three-day event compared with 5,785 for the 2007 show, which was held in Shanghai.
