Microprocessor-controlled washer-extractors are helping to ensure strict laundering hygiene standards at a Merthyr Tydfyll plant of major meat processor.

The Electrolux washer-extractors use the company’s own Clarus software to give precise control over all stages of the wash. The programming allows the wash parameters, timing, water level, temperature and detergents, to be optimised.

Such programmable control suits installations where high volumes must be laundered to strict hygiene standards, while still meeting cost-control requirements.

The Welsh plant has a staff of 350 working three shifts and needing at least four changes of overall per day.

The installation was carried out by Electrolux agent, Brewer and Bunney, who had already advised the meat company on laundry equipment for an installation in Portugal.
