Profits at the top 32 textile care companies were nearly four times as much as the industry average according to the latest report from Plimsoll Publishing.
The industry leaders scored an average pre-tax profit of 20.1% last year, compared with 5.5% for the rest of the industry.
Many have been well established. Thirteen have been around since the 1970s and a further 16 have been in business since the 1980s. All have returned high profits over the past four years. Bigger companies dominate the list and 27 had sales of £10million or more.
