TRSA members improve workplace safety

3 February 2011

Its annual survey, compiled from members' forms submitted to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health) shows a 17% reduction in recordable injuries and illnesses in the period from 2008 to 2009.

TRSA claims the improvement underlines the importance of its Safe programme, which was launched in 2005.

The annual survey not only helps to identify problem areas but also allows members to share information about best practices and encourages them to work together on more initiatives to improve safety.

TRSA president Joseph Ricci said that the programme has focussed on the highest risk areas and so has been valuable in developing more effective practices in maintaining equipment, handling soiled linen and working in confined spaces.
