TTH Laundry installs Girbau EcoTunnel system

Founded in 2009, the family-run laundry provides linen rental and cleaning services for a range of businesses in the North West and surrounding areas. It recently won the Business Start of the Year award at the WiN Business Awards, organised by the Wirral Investment Network.

The Girbau EcoTunnel System installed by TTH comprises a six-stage batch washer, an SPR50 press and two ST100 dryers. The company opted for the Medi-Spec version, which will allow it to provide a verified disinfection service to hotel and healthcare customers.

The EcoTunnel is said to be ideal for businesses handling 250 - 500kg per hour. The system is designed to minimise a laundry's environmental impact - an important consideration for TTH and a growing number of its customers.

The EcoTunnel reduces carbon emissions by 80% and uses around 75% less water and 50% less detergent than washer-extractors.

TTH sales director Vicki Hughes said that the company's rapid expansion meant it had to decide whether to buy more washer-extractors or a small batch washer.

“We undertook a competitive analysis and the economies achievable from the EcoTunnel System made the decision for us.”

Hughes added that the company already had enough business to make the system pay from day one. The installation would allow the company to compete against the big textile rental and linen companies. It would also boost profits on current contracts by 70%.
