7 April 1998

Klopman International, the manufacturer producing fabrics for the workwear, protective wear and casual apparel markets, has been purchased by US textile giant Galey & Lord.

The new alliance has created a workwear and casual apparel supplier with fully integrated manufacturing on two continents.

“The synergies between the two companies will give us considerable opportunities in manufacturing and marketing”, said Arthur Wiener, chairman and chief executive of Galey & Lord.

Klopman has sales offices throughout Europe and its two manufacturing plants will continue to operate.

Galey & Lord has 12 plants in Georgia and North and South Carolina, in Mexico, Canada and Tunisia in North Africa. It also has offices in New York and Greensboro. The company is claimed to be the second largest producer of denim in the world.

Klopman’s president, Giuseppe Rodino said there are over 40 million working Europeans wearing Klopman fabrics.
