Members of Whitsters lunch club take to the water on September 15 to celebrate its 79-years in existence.
Departing from its usual land-bound tradition, a party of around 70 members and guests will take a luxury four-hour cruise down the River Thames, starting at Runnymede.
The trip passes by Datchet Mead, which has special meaning for the club. An early reference to its name whitster, meaning bleacher comes in Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor when Falstaff is sent on a trip in a laundry basket to end up among the whitsters in Datchet Mead.
The Whitsters Club was founded in 1924.
