UK/INTERNATIONALWell, it is that time of year again, writes LCNi editor Kathy Bowry, and none of us 12 months ago could have forecast what a very different festive season it would be at the end of 2020. At the end of a difficult, if not disastrous year, for so many, we have to reflect, too, that the toll exacted by Covid-19 goes far deeper than just trying to keep businesses afloat. For those of you who have lost loved ones and will have empty spaces at the table this Christmas, my heart and sympathies are with you.

UK“Dire” is the word David Stevens, CEO of the Textile Services Association (TSA), has chosen to describe the plight of the UK’s hospitality laundries. ”Dire”, he emphasised, is the current state of the commercial laundries servicing the hospitality market. Stevens warned that 24,000 jobs in hospitality laundries are on the line and, despite repeated calls for help, the Government has done little or nothing.  “It is the final nail in coffin as Government continues to ignore hospitality laundries,” he said.

UKBradford-based Christeyns UK managing director Nick Garthwaite is retiring from his role at the specialist hygiene chemical manufacturer after 10 years at the helm and is being replaced by Neil Jones (pictured), currently Managing Director at Clover Chemicals and Christeyns Food Hygiene, both part of the Christeyns UK group, will be his successor.
