Becoming a Freeman of a Livery Company is generally the first step in a Livery career, writes Sarah Lancaster, Master of The Worshipful Company of Launderers.

To be invited or to be accepted as a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of Launderers is an honour, a recognition of your integrity in business and in life. It also enables you to apply and to receive the Freedom of The City of London with a wonderful and ancient ceremony at Guildhall.

However, the key meaning of being part of a Livery Company, is the opportunity to help you give something back for your successful career, by way of charitable giving and support to your Livery.
