Cherry Tree Machines has acquired Kent dryers and tunnel finishers from MD Machines, the Kendal-based manufacturer of the well-known dryers. Bob Mills, Cherry Tree chief executive commented: "Cherry Tree is a strong company in a growth period and we are expanding our range of industrial laundry machinery. When the opportunity came up to buy into such a well-known brand, with a reputation for quality and hard-working well-built machinery we saw this as a great opportunity and one that fitted perfectly with the expansion of our business and product portfolio.

The sale of the Kent brand was prompted by the retirement of MD’s directors. Last year, retiring director Dennis Mitchell told LCN: “Our equipment is installed in most of the major laundries in the UK and Ireland and also in many other areas of the world. It is thanks to the combination of faithful customers and our duty to supply reliable equipment that has given us 40 years of successful trading. Our policy has always been to manufacture reliable equipment.”

"The Kent brand will complement our existing business and also enhance our service commitment to our customers. In the long term, we can offer replacement Kent dryers and guarantee the future supply of spare parts along with service call outs, gas checks and so on,” commented Mills.

“We have also taken on experienced engineers in the deal so we can enhance our response times and service all makes of equipment.” Cherry Tree’s gas safe engineers are currently in training on the equipment and we are currently transferring parts and equipment to Cherry Tree head office in Blackburn,” he added.

“Our 24/7 callout guarantees a smooth transition and we are now offering tunnel finisher servicing and replacement parts. These are normally made to order but now, in many cases, are readily available in stock. Our professional and experienced team are available on the same Kent contact number as before or use Cherry Tree contact numbers,” said Mills.
