The European Division of the American Uniform Co, formerly owned by Steiner Co, Salt Lake City and Ameripride, Minneapolis, US, has been sold to the Italian holding company CMA S.r.l. which has its head office in Rome.
The division comprises the manufacturing units of Amuco International S.p.a in Avellino, Italy, and Amuco International S.a. in Ben Arous, Tunisia, together with the sales and marketing offices of Amuco (UK) Ltd, Cheltenham; Auco GmbH, Burscheid, Germany; and Auco Nederland, in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
CMA is a leading company within the Italian construction, publishing and consultancy markets and has carried out consultancy work for many national and international companies including Klopman and Olivetti.
It sees considerable opportunities within the clothing industry and intends to use the Avellino production unit especially to develop a new range of upgraded and technical products.
Significant investment will be made in design and manufacturing, to widen its current product range.
