After more than 40 years working within the laundry industry, Kannegiesser UK’s Stuart Rigby has retired. Over the past 22 years, Rigby has developed and been responsible for many garment systems in the UK. His vast knowledge base from his early career working in a laundry has been invaluable and extremely beneficial for Ducker first and then Kannegiesser, which acquired the Ducker business in 2005.

Selwyn Burchhardt, Kannegiesser UK, commented: “Stuart has been both a friend and a trusted colleague working at Kannegiesser, and while we both started our lives as competitors, we developed a unique working relationship with all our UK based customers, which has propelled Kannegiesser to the top of leading suppliers of industrial laundry equipment in the UK.

“Stuart was well respected both within Kannegiesser and by all our customers. He was able to develop and explain laundry systems in an extremely professional way, and together with input from the Kannegiesser organization, was able to implement both simple and highly advanced garment sort systems.

“His experience will be sorely missed. We would like to thank Stuart for all his hard work over the years. A real gentleman with a kind heart. We wish him a very happy and healthy retirement – richly deserved.”

Rigby started his career at Bentley’s in Hull, a well-known garment and flat work processing laundry in East Yorkshire. Here, he worked in various departments from 1979 gaining valuable experience in garment processing. This was to be his area of expertise. In 1986, Stuart joined the sales team at Ducker the tunnel finisher manufacturer based in Kendal.
