Consumption of electricity and water reduced by 17% and 12% respectively in one year, 99% of waste was managed in a sustainable manner through recovery, reuse and recycling procedures, and the production of fabrics made with ecological materials reached 2.3 million metres with an increase of 77% compared to 2017 and quintupled over the past three years.

These are just some of the environmentally conscientious results achieved by Klopman, as certified by the 2018 edition of the sustainability report, the third published by the company. The document confirms Klopman's determination to make corporate social responsibility, respect for the environment and its local communities and attention to its employees all critical success factors. In fact, the entire production process is aimed at minimising energy and resource waste with immediate benefits not only from an economic point of view but also, and above all, from an environmental perspective.

One example of this approach is Klopman's pioneering commitment to the range of sustainable fabrics that the company is continuously expanding, giving its customers the opportunity to choose recycled polyester, made from PET plastic bottles, throughout their entire portfolio. It is a decision that has been welcomed by the market, with production volumes increasing by about five times the quantity since 2016.

Klopman has also been awarded level 3, the highest level, of the STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) certification, the most authoritative certification on the market for the textile industry. STeP’s assessment evaluates and monitors different factors, from the use of eco-compatible technologies and products, to the efficient use of resources, as well as to socially responsible working conditions. Klopman also maintains a relationship of collaboration with its local communities, not only through choosing 450 suppliers operating within the territory, out of a total 659, but also through various supportive initiatives, including: the donation of a complete library of texts for children and young people at the Vaccination Service of the ASL of Frosinone; educational visits to the company offered to schools and universities; the creation of the award for the best degree thesis dedicated to the circular economy in the textile sector; participation in the school-work alternation project; sponsorship of cultural activities, including the annual exhibition organised by the local conservatory involving more than 300 students from all over Italy; and donations to the Telethon Foundation for research against genetic diseases

"Corporate social responsibility for Klopman is now an integral part of our way of operating and will be more and more so in the future, given the challenges facing the world around us. As an industry leader, we are called to be a point of reference in terms of attention to the environment, employees, customers and the community that hosts us. The results summarised in the third edition of our Sustainability Report show us that we are going in the right direction,” said Alfonso Marra, CEO of Klopman. “We strongly believe that investing in sustainability and innovation in this area is the best way not only to remain competitive but to respond to a modern vision of the company that is increasingly called upon to perform its social function.”
