In his update on the new ISO/CEN standard for care labelling, Chris Tebbs, the executive director of the International Drycleaners Congress and a member of the CINET board, called for greater representation of the drycleaning industry on the national bodies responsible for care labelling. While the views of the garment manufacturers and retailers are well represented, he said it was essential that the textile care industry had greater input.

Secretary general Peter Wennekes revealed the preliminary results from Cinet’s first survey of the global drycleaning market.

Cinet sent out a questionnaire covering, country by country, turnover for the total market and different types of outlet; profitability; number and size of units; problems faced, and processes used. An annual survey is planned.

A full report of the CINET conference will appear in the May issue of LCN International.
