The DOE says conservation standards for top- and front-load commercial laundry washers will help the USA save an estimated 143billion gallons of water a year, while the cumulative energy and water cost savings is estimated at $400 million.
The standards will produce savings in Greenhouse gas emissions that are projected to be the equivalent of taking 5.1million cars off the road.
“The new standards will help our nation save a significant amount of water, energy and eventually, greenhouse gas emissions,” said J.B. Hoyt, director of regulatory affairs and state government relations at Whirlpool Corporation.
“We’re confident that we will have the technology to meet these standards, while still providing superior cleaning performance. It’s the right thing to do for the future of our industry and our country.”
