Newbury, Berkshire-based commercial laundry specialist Washco, has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised environmental standard which provides a system for managing an organisation’s environmental practices. The certification demonstrates Washco’s  outstanding commitment to sustainability, as it continually improves and reduce its impact on the environment, said the company.

"We are thrilled to have achieved ISO 14001 certification," said Washco managing director Peter Hosking. "This certification gives our clients confidence they are working with a company that takes sustainability and corporate social responsibility seriously.“

The certification process involved a two-stage audit that assessed Washco’s environmental management system against the ISO 14001 criteria. Washco’s certification now sits alongside its ISO 9001 accreditation, forming a combined business and environmental management system that sets it apart in its industry, as a preferred contractor, said Washco.

Washco supplies energy-efficient laundry equipment that uses smart technology to reduce energy and water consumption.

Washco will be reviewing its processes and implementing changes to ensure it remains an environmentally conscious and sustainable business, it said.
