Oxwash, has acquired a brand new all-electric van. Introduced in the UK last year, the a zero-emission Maxus eDeliver 3, one of the first electric-only vans to be sold in the UK, is the solution to improving logistics without compromising sustainability efforts, said the company. Sustainability is at the core of everything Oxwash does, so the key to expansion was finding a solution to access customers further afield while remaining net-zero.
When Dr Kyle Grant, Ex-NASA Scientist, founded Oxwash in 2018 his aim was simple; to disrupt the laundry industry by creating a convenient service for businesses and homes that doesn’t destroy the planet. Oxwash’ mission is to build a service with no environmental impact and world class results.
Having just committed alongside TechZero to become a net-zero company by 2023, reducing carbon emissions are core to Oxwash’s operations. To date, it has fulfilled logistics using a fleet of zero-emissions e-cargo bikes, but as demand grows and Oxwash expands, the need for a new method of transport was needed.
With the eDelivery 3, Oxwash can now transport large amounts of textiles and garments across Oxford and surrounding areas. It will also help towards serving corporate clients such as prestigious hotel The Relais Henley which, following a complete refurbishment of the old Red Lion hotel, opened in the summer of 2021.
The Maxus eDeliver 3 body has been constructed using lightweight materials including aluminium and composite. With a height of 1,895mm, the high roof allows for long garments to remain upright during transition.
With a battery capacity of 52.5kWh and a top speed of 120km/hr, the van has a payload of 905kg allowing for a large number of garments, linen and more to be transported.
The van is servicing Oxford, Henley-on-Thames, and Wallingford, and Oxwash is now in the process of expanding the route out to include Didcot, Milton Park and Bicester.
