David Gross, CEO of Gulf Coast Laundry Services in Gulfport, Mississippi, agreed to co-ordinate “Towel Aid” in response to a request from wildlife agencies. He wants TRSA members to donate their worn-out textiles and the freight cost of getting this material to the coast and says he will then organise the distribution to the agencies.
He reported that birds, dolphins, turtles and other animals are becoming distressed and dying as a result of the oil in the water but the effort to clean the injured animals is now beginning to take shape.
