The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but Libby Simpson said the fire was caused by tea towels self igniting due to residual grease.
“I feel this needs bringing to the attention of anyone who may be put in a similar situation so that measures can be taken to avoid this happening to them.” She added that some laundries are not processing greasy items after 12 noon to allow them to cool down while the premises are occupied.

Fire gutted the ground floor premises of a laundry service Grantham, Lincolnshire, early on Friday 18 January, 2008. Owner Libby Simpson called firefighters to her shop, Press Gang in London Road, just before 8.30am. The fire was quickly controlled and no-one was hurt.
