The AGM also voted Roger Oliver, London Linen Supply as vice president and Keith Ellarby of Innisfail Laundry as treasurer.
Accepting the role of president, Mr Walters said his top priority would be to work with chief executive Murray Simpson to reform the association to ensure efficient and effective decision making, unhindered by outmoded governance arrangements.
Outgoing president, Martyn Lewis stressed Mr Walter’s commitment to the TSA and said that he had been a very supportive vice president.
Mr Walters has served on the national executive council for seven years, as chairman of the drycleaning committe for three years and has been chairman of the workwear working party.
He joined the textile services industry in 1990 as MD for the retail division of Brooks Service Company, becoming its chief executive in 1995 and taking the company into private ownership in January 2001.
