TSA’s GLARE initiative empowers industry’s carbon reduction plans

At the recent Textile Services Association (TSA) National Congress in Southampton, TSA CEO David Stevens announced the launch of its Global Laundry and Rental Emissions (GLARE) carbon calculation platform, designed to help commercial laundries in the UK – and around the world – measure their carbon footprint. This will enable them to meet their carbon reporting requirements and will play a vital role in the TSA’s roadmap for the laundry industry to meet its targets for carbon reduction by 2045 ahead of the UK Government’s commitment for achievement by 2050.

The Jensen-Group has announced that as of 1 March Doga Cagdas will step into the role of chief financial officer (CFO), succeeding Markus Schalch, who has served as CFO for more than 17 years.
TSA Congress 2025 charts the industry’s future course from Southampton

The Textile Services Association (TSA) Congress in Southampton, 5 February, was opened by Charlie Betteridge, chair of the Association. It was the largest TSA Congress ever, he told delegates at the salubrious Southampton Harbour Hotel, with 33 laundry companies represented by their owners, managing directors and CEOs.
Holden takes on Miele Professional head of service role
Miele Professional has appointed Sam Holden head of service for Great Britain and Ireland. His appointment strengthens Miele Professional’s service operations in the UK. Holden has been with Miele Professional since 2019 as a business account manager and brings a wealth of commercial experience to his new position. He will oversee the management of service operations for the Professional division which includes commercial laundry and wetcleaning equipment and solutions.
Guild encourages drycleaners to diversify to survive

The Guild of Cleaners and Launderers (GCL) recently held an online meeting dedicated to expanding drycleaners’ services to items not normally accepted as drycleanable with existing equipment, whether solvent or water rotary machines. The idea behind the meeting was to demonstrate to Guild members that there are other market opportunities that retail drycleaners can become involved with at a modest cost to expand their range of services and increase their revenue.
TSA Congress gets under way in Southampton on 5 February

The Textile Services Association (TSA) National Congress is ready for business on 5 February at the Harbour Hotel in Southampton. The TSA reports it is its largest ever Congress with more than 33 laundry companies represented.As well as a record number of delegates, the conference also welcomes keynote speaker Harry Redknapp, legendary former professional footballer and Premier League manager as keynote speaker.

A new training course hrganised by the Textile Services Association (TSA) helps the laundry industry to ensure its equipment is safe. The TSA is offering a three-day course on Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) safety inspections. These apply to companies, organisations or sole traders who own, operate or control equipment, or whose employees use it.
