Johnsons Workwear’s Learning and Development team has been honoured with the Princess Royal Training 2019 Award for its work with the Johnsons Academy, following a rigorous assessment process.

The Princess Royal Training Awards, now in their fourth year, will be presented to Johnsons Workwear representatives and other successful businesses, ranging from multinationals to charities, in October at St James Palace in London.

The awards celebrate outstanding and innovative training and skills development programmes from UK employers, and this year Johnsons Workwear is recognised alongside just 47 other businesses, with a commitment to investing in their people that have demonstrated exceptional benefits from training on company performance.

Patricia Stringfellow, chair of the Princess Royal Training Awards Commission, said: “You are truly an exemplar of training and learning best practice’.

The Johnsons Academy was created to give staff, selected through a robust nomination and application process, the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and build their internal networks, alongside live project work on real business issues. Its success, to date, has been clear with the confidence and skill of the employees involved increasing considerably over a 12-month period and over 70% of Academy members promoted to a new position within the organisation over an 18-month period.

Managing director for Johnsons Workwear Helen Wood said: “Congratulations to our Learning and Development team for their outstanding work and this well-deserved recognition. This highlights how our training is strategically designed to develop people’s careers and nurture the talent we have in our business, supporting recruitment and retention, and putting learning and development right at the heart of our company goals and growth plans.”
